The history of strudel dates back hundreds of years, it originated as an easy yet satisfying meal by the poor.
Strudel is most often associated with Austrian cuisine, but it is also a traditional pastry in the area formerly belonging to the Austro-Hungarian Empire. The Viennese are the ones who made this dish famous with their delicate, thin layers of pastry and sweet, tart apple filling.
Strudel is a healthy dessert that’s easy to bake.
How to prepare the Strudel dessert.
INGREDIENTS.
1 quantity of Puff pastry
2 apples
Some walnuts and raisins
2 spoons of honey or a bit of marmalade.

Unroll the pastry and fill it with all the ingredients.
Wrap it up and close securely. Slice lines in the top of the dough to open it up slightly. Cook in the preheated oven, 180 degrees, for 20 minutes.
Tips for the perfect Strudel.
- Cut the apples in small cubes and squeeze some lemon juice on top.
- Use as much dried fruit as you please.
- Use honey or your favourite marmalade
- Before putting in the oven brush the pastry with some water
- Enjoy warm with a scoop of ice cream
